Category:PhotographyFrom MinipaintingwikiPhotography can be an important aspect of miniature painting if you wish to display your work online. It's best to have a setup with a lightbox of sorts and a camera stand in order to keep the camera from moving while taking the photos. If one has a point and shoot camera, the best setting to use is the macro. This setting gets minute detail of smaller objects and will help show off the details of your work. Most likely the best camera would be some sort of SLR or DSLR Camera which will allow you to manually take the photos with a 2 sec. timer so there is no movement on the camera stand. You can also get interchangeable lens / lens filters that can catch even more detail on your work. Once finished with that, one can develop the pictures either on The GIMP or Photoshop. If you don't have a lightbox, it is quite easy to make. Take a large cardboard box and cut off large square slots from 3 of the sides. Once done, cover the sides with tissue paper (however many layers depends on taste and what you want from your photos... I use at least 3 layers each side). Once finished, place a very dark sheet of artist paper (or if you have your own, photo backdrop) in the back to enable more detail to be seen from the miniatures. Once finished, place a lamp above the lightbox and one on each side. If you haven't 3 lamps, 2 will work fine with one on the top and one on a side. |
