Perry Plastic Prussian Infantry 1813-15
The most common question we've been asked over the last two years is, quite rightly, 'when are you going to make Prussians!' At last they're here! Well, the 3 up's for the plastics are anyway. These are in the tooling process at the moment so we have no release date.
The set will comprise of 40 Line Musketeers/Grenadiers plus a detachment of 6 Volunteer Jaegers which were often attached to regiments. The 40 infantry will give you a full strength battalion at 20:1 (for man-sized games), although we will be making the command frame available to buy separately too (direct from us) for those who use a different ratio. This is something we'll be doing for the other Napoleonic sets.
I've gone for the traditional march attack pose for the Line infantry and, as they're advancing at speed, I've made the Jaegers 'at trial', firearms in one hand and their Hirschlangers in the other (!) There will be a metal conversion pack to make the musketeers/Grenadiers into Fusiliers too. A metal range will accompany this plastic set and will possibly be available prior to this set.
There will be enough heads with covered shakos for all the figures in the box. In addition there will be heads with the Line Feldmutze and peaked Schirmutze for the Jaegers as some units had them. Likewise the Jaeger belly pouch is separate as some Volunteer Jaeger units had them. With all the faces, I've tried to give them a Germanic look.
Most figures are in 3 pieces as we realise people like to build up units quickly, so you'll get head , equipment (knapsack, haversack, cartridge box, short sword and half the greatcoat are in one piece) and body to put together.
The command frame comprises of one officer, one standard bearer, one drummer and an NCO.

This isn't something that I do very often... ever... but here goes.
This is the Skaven Warlord from the new Warhammer boxed set. It is very much still in the WIP stage, I've spent an afternoon on it so far, but I think it is shaping up to be quite tasty!

I borrowed... stole... the colour scheme from Ogreninja but played around with it a little bit. Still got quite a bit to do yet.

Hello Everyone,

I thought it was about time I said hello. Been here a few weeks trying to find my way around and getting some very useful information.

So like any dating site  I had better tell you a little about myself:

I am old, very old or at least feel that way. Started painting when I was 7 with Airfix, did the usual thing with them when I finished which was to hang the good ones from the ceiling and the others had a firework attached to see how far they would fly (no longer recommended for Health and Safety reasons). I have had a couple of collections over the years, one destroyed by fire the other destroyed by a divorce. Had many breaks in between and only really took it up again in the last 5 years following a serious illness which gave me a lot of time on my hands, day time telly only gets you so far through the day. I still remember when the TV would go off before midnight and the white dot appeared and they played God save the Queen.

I am looking forward to a long and fruitful stay with you all.

Tim

These include Cathay, Nippon and Araby.

I plan to take a look at three of these books in my next few blog posts, the first book I take an indepth look at is the Norse, and will take a look at building an army using the books, and will include links for suitable miniatures.

The quality of these books are superb, they're well written and the layout design is excellent. Well worth downloading all of them before they get a cease and desist letter.

With the Ironwind Metals contest concluded I would like to offer my entry up for review and discussion. The Flashfire Mech is only the third...

With the Ironwind Metals contest concluded I would like to offer my entry up for review and discussion. The Flashfire Mech is only the third miniature I have finished in 2010 due to the birth of my son in March.

The miniature has been slightly modified. Originally the Flashfire is a Solaris VII design for arena combat, but I decided to create a variant which could be used by mercenaries or house regulars. To do this I filed off the spikes on the left arm and shoulder. I also repositioned the legs into a walking pose making the miniature more dynamic.

To show the scale I used an infantry trooper and a road sign on the base. The trooper stands exactly 6mm tall. The road sign was scratchbuild using a needle for the pole and thin plasticard (a blister) for the sign.

That I took first place in the IWM contest was really unexpected ... after seeing the Jabberwock's I didn't think I would have a chance. A heartfelt Thank You to everybody who voted for the Flashfire  I really appreciate it.

As some of you may know I have also submitted the miniature to Cool Mini or not. Now here is a question: This is not meant to be a rant about the score! But after 52 votes the score was sitting at 7.7. My question is: What is needed to score 8+ with a BattleTech (Mech) miniature? The obvious answer would be to claim the manufacturer is GW, submit just one or two views, make the pictures super small and state that this is the new "SpaceAngelsAssassinDreadBot", but seriously ... I felt I had a decent shot. In my opinion the painting is good (ok-ish if you ask me, but the overall feedback I received was positive), I show pictures that are big enough to actually see the miniature, show close-ups, show different angles. Honestly, I don't know what else to do  How do I need to improve painting-vise? Add more details? Are the pictures crap? Or do people just dislike Mechs that much? (And I thought everybody loves big stompy robots ... )

Again I want to make it clear that this is not meant as a rant. I accept the scores. But I want to improve and I want to score 8+ with a BattleTech (Mech) miniature. Help me please

I have already received some valuable feedback in this regard:

The Flashfire is not an 'iconic' Mech

Even though it is walking the pose is still too static

Do more with the base

Add more details

Interesting though that all of this is not necessary when you either submit a Space Marine or have a 'name' (knowing some of the 'names' personally i am pretty sure they don't always like that no matter what they submit they automatically score an 8,5+ ...).

Please discuss
